Made by Tim McCoy in Pittsburgh, PA.

In 2008, I embarked on my woodworking journey, enrolling in the year-long furniture and cabinetry course at Laney College in Oakland, CA. Following this, I honed my skills as an apprentice cabinetmaker for nearly two years, eventually transitioning into the captivating world of scenic carpentry for stage and film with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees in San Francisco. In 2016, my career path led me to Pittsburgh, where I continued my craft as a scenic carpenter.

While pursuing my professional ventures, I delved into the art of woodturning as a self-taught enthusiast for over 12 years. In 2022, my passion for woodturning reached new heights as I decided to deepen my expertise. I dedicated two months to a woodturning intensive at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine, a pivotal experience that refined my techniques and fueled my commitment to the craft.

Specializing in crafting utilitarian, wooden objects, my repertoire at McCoy's Mills includes the artful creation of pepper mills, bowls, hollow forms, and urns. Each piece is a testament to the precision, creativity, and dedication I bring to my work.

In 2023, I took a significant step in my woodworking journey by establishing McCoy’s Mills as my business entity. It serves as a platform for sharing and selling my unique, handcrafted wares, allowing me to connect with a broader audience and showcase the culmination of years of passion and craftsmanship.

As I continue to evolve as a woodturner and artisan, I find inspiration in the inherent beauty of wood and the joy it brings to those who appreciate fine craftsmanship. McCoy’s Mills is not just a business; it's a reflection of my dedication to the art of woodturning and a commitment to creating functional yet exquisite pieces that enhance the everyday experience for those who acquire them.
